LIGHTNING PROTECTION
...is more than just a Faraday cage of air-termination, down conductors and earthing systems.
At present, design and installation of a lightning protection system is contained in IS EN 62305 2006. This standard defines a lightning protection system consisting of external and internal lightning protection installations. The European Prestandard ENV 61024-1 contains the latest scientific findings in the field of lightning protection. It was integrated into the VDE regulations as DIN V ENV 61024-1 (VDE V 0185 Part 100) to replace the present standard BS6651:1999 after a transition period. The basis for this European Prestandard is the standard worked out by the International Technical Committee (TC)81. The standard DIN V ENV 61024-1 (VDE F 0185 Part 100) considers the latest scientific findings in the field of lithtning protection and thus represents the latest state of technology |
